Transformed from the Chrysalis

A newly emerged monarch butterfly clings to its opened chrysalis on a slender twig, its wings unfolded after the hidden work of metamorphosis. The empty casing remains beside it as a visible testimony to release, renewal, and a life no longer confined to its former shape. In Christian teaching, the butterfly is a fitting symbol of spiritual transformation: the old life is left behind, and the renewed life is formed by God from within. This imagery speaks especially to Romans 12:2, where believers are called not to be conformed to the world but to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. It also echoes the language of new creation, where redemption is not cosmetic improvement but a God-given change of nature and direction.
